Quick Tip

If you are repairing or modding an Xbox 1.6 motherboard be sure to plug the PSU connector to the motherboard before plugging the power cable in, this will keep you from blowing a transistor which maintains the output from the standy regulator.

Focus Video Encoder (FS454)
[xb-ic-focus]

$4.95

The Focus video encoder is one of the three encoders used on the Xbox motherboard. The Focus brand was introduced after the Conexant and can be found mostly in 1.4 motherboards.

The Focus successor is the Xcalibur encoder which was introduced with the 1.6 motherboards..

Rarely should one ever have to replace the video encoder and it should be done as a last resort. Some reasons you may have a video encoder problem is if your unit boots and gives sound but no video and replacing the A/V pack doesnt fix it.
