The Excalibur video encoder is one of the three encoders used on the Xbox motherboard. The Excalibur brand is used in the 1.6 motherboard version.
Rarely should one ever have to replace the video encoder and it should be done as a last resort. Some reasons you may have a video encoder problem is if your unit boots and gives sound but no video and replacing the A/V pack doesnt fix it.
